Yui is the antagonist, one of many, in this story, and is Miaka's
best friend from childhood. Thrown into ancient China, she is told, by Nakago, she is Seiryuu No Miko (the blue Dragon god
of Kutou country) sworn enemy of Suzaku No Miko. Yui's mind is in turmoil over being left in a strange place, having experienced
violence first-hand, and blames Miaka for all her problems. Yui is a dynamic character who, controlled by Nakago and half-truths,
has set out to kill her once best friend and claim Tamahome for herself at any cost. Will Nakago win over Yui's mind or will
the love of a childhood friend win her back?

Nakago is the gorgeous, but completely evil, Seishi protector
and advisor to Priestess of Seiryu, Yui, and also general
of Kutou country. Nakago, for his own reasons revealed later in the series, wants Yui to become the Priestess of Seiryuu and
more importantly he wants to have one of her wishes from Seiryuu. Nakago is very cold to the people around him unless he can
use them in any way for his own benefit. There are so many things I'd like to write about Nakago, but most of them came out
way late in the series and would be considered spoiler material. Basically, Nakago is the character you love to hate
up until the very end when you finally get a peek into his mind and heart.

Soi is the companion of Nakago, she loves him but he doesn't requite. Soi is also the only female warrior of the Seiryuu Seven. She and Tomo do not get along when Nakago is not around because of both of their "affections" for
him (this is not emphasized in the anime for some reason).

Suboshi is one of the most mixed-up and least informed
of the Seiryuu Seishi. He tends to only get half of a story before he goes flying off the handle and messes up peoples' lives.
Suboshi is hot-headed, short-tempered, and almost clue-less to what is really going on around him, a foil of his brother.
Oh yeah, Suboshi is Amiboshi's younger twin brother. The Boshi twins had
a hard life. Due to civil wars in Kutou, the twins' parents were killed while the two were still quite young. Amiboshi learned
to abhor war because of it, Suboshi learned that those who are stronger win. Suboshi loves both his brother and Yui, the forces within him pull in different directions.

Amiboshi is probably the most likeable of all the Seiryuu warriors,
I mean you may like Nakago or Tomo or whoever, but as a character Amiboshi is the only one you can really like and have a
clear conscience. Oh yeah, Amiboshi is Suboshi's older twin
brother. Amiboshi's power is being able to focus chi through his mouth which he does using a flute. He is calm, caring, and
sensitive to the people around him, almost the complete opposite of his brother. The Boshi twins had a hard life. Due to civil

of it, Suboshi learned that those who are stronger win.

Tomo's Past
Tomo's
past is a mystery, and he's not telling either...he was abandoned as a child and raised by a dancer (thanks Ritz!). His "real"
name is a name given by the person who raised him as the name given to him by his real parents was lost after his abandonment.
Tomo's Attire
As
can be seen in his pictures, Tomo is fond of Chinese Opera regalia. He can be regularly seen with a painted face, elaborate
headdress, and full costume outfit. As he explained in one of the tv episodes, the different colors used in his face paint
represent different things: Indigo for strategy, Black for loyalty, and Gold for harmony. As Cind-chan found out after some research, in the Chinese Opera, a character with
a base face paint color of white is considered an evil character. When asked at Anime Expo 98, series creator Watase Yuu
admits that she intended to show Tomo's gorgeous un-painted face in the anime, but the plot did not allow it. Also found
out somewhere on the net, Tomo's costume is like that of an important high-ranking general.
Tomo's Powers
Tomo
is able to "capture" people in illusions created by clams he calls "shin." People are susceptive to these illusions extremely
easily, especially after experiencing something tramatic. These illusions are extremely real and within them Tomo is able
to create an infinite number of copies of himself to populate them. Tomo also possesses telekinetic powers over objects, bending
them to his every whim. This is normally seen through his manipulation of the long feathers located on his headdress.

Not much is known about Miboshi as he came in on the last of
the television episodes. All that can be assumed is that he is really old since his powers are so great. Also, my favorite
Miboshi theory: since we know that Miboshi's current body is that of a child monk that he possessed, we don't know what he
really looks like. so the prevailing theory is that he had to be a bishonen like the other seishi because Watase Yuu
don't draw ugly guys (except for ashitare)! Sorry, no offense...

Ashitare is undoubtedly the brawn of the Seiryuu seishi,
he is the one sent to do the dirty work when senseless and merciless killing is needed. We don't really know enough about
this character to really feel for him or really hate him (well, okay there is ONE definate scene where you hate him). Our
only hint as to his background is the knowledge that he was raised (born in?) a penal colony and eventually ended up in a
travelling freak show. That is where Nakago found him (and consequently freed him from) upon realizing his seishi identity.
