EPISODE ONE: THE GIRL OF LEGEND
The episode begins with Miaka dreaming about food.
Her dream turns into a nightmare when all of the food disappeared, and the voices of her teachers tell her she doesn't need
to eat what she needs to do is to study. She yells back at the voices to return her food, then wakes up, and realizes she
has just hit the real teacher with her desk. She is told to stand in the hall with her desk raised over her head.
The
school bell then rings, Miaka and her friends begin to discuss their selection of high schools while walking. Miaka says she
wants to go to Jonan Academy with Yui, but her friends tell her she has no chance of getting into that school.
Yui
and Miaka make a trip to the National Library. Yui goes off to return a book, and Miaka finds the juice machines in the library.
While she is trying to decide what to get, she drops her coin. When she bends down to pick it up, she sees a bird. Confused,
Miaka follows the trail it left up the steps into the restricted part of the library.
Yui finds Miaka in the restricted
room, and asks her what she's doing there. Miaka explains about seeing the bird, and while they are talking a book falls off
the shelf. They picked up the book and discovered it is an ancient Chinese novel. As they page through the book, and Miaka
sees a picture of the bird she saw. Yui begins reading the book out loud, and they are engulfed by a red light.
Miaka
and Yui opened their eyes, and find they are no longer in the library. They are confronted by a group of men (slave traders).
Miaka head butts one of them, and tells Yui to run. Another of the slave traders raises his sword, but is stopped by a young
man with a Chinese character on his forehead. A fight follows, and all of the slave traders are defeated by the strange young
man. The slave traders run off, and the young man asks for payment. When he finds Yui, and Miaka have no money, he is disappointed,
and walks off. Yui runs after him, while Miaka digs through her belongings in search of money. Yui disappears in a red light
just as Miaka finds her money, and looks up.
Yui wakes up in the library, and searches for Miaka but can't find her.
She realizes what just happened is written in the book, and begins reading again.
Miaka catches a ride to the capital
on the back of a cart, and begins searching for the boy who saved them, in the hope that Yui is with him. She sees him, and
jumps off the cart. Miaka is distracted by everything around her, and loses sight of the boy again. She realizes that she's
hungry, and buys some food, but is yelled at when she pays with foreign money. She runs off food in hand, and continues her
search for the young man.
Soon she is approached by another man who says he's been watching her, and would like to
help. He claims to be a friend of the young man that saved her earlier, and offers to take her to him. She agrees, and follows
him.
The young man Miaka has been searching for hears there is a strangely dressed girl looking for him, and asks
if the girl has a companion. He is told she's alone, and he decides its not the girls he saved earlier.
Miaka finds
she has been tricked, and is attacked by a group of men. She fights back, and manages to knock all of the men down. The men
now angry, and humiliated knock Miaka down, and pin her. A rock flies out of nowhere, and hits one of the men on the back
of the head. He turns around, and is confronted by the young man that saved Miaka, and Yui before. The young man once more
dispatches all the attackers, and rescues Miaka.
EPISDOE TWO: THE PRIESTESS OF SUZAKU
A visibly shaken Miaka stands, and confesses her
fear to her rescuer. He tells her to relax, and then asks why she has been looking for him. Miaka tells him she has been looking
for Yui, and asks if he knows where she is. He says he has no idea, then walks off.
Miaka follows him all over town,
begging him to help her look for Yui. He tells her she needs to pay if she wants help. She has no money, and accuses him of
selling Yui into slavery. Towns people begin talking about him, and he gets nervous. The young man grabs Miaka, and runs off.
As he jogs he tells Miaka he is not a slave trader, she responds with "I know". He stops dead in his tracks, and drops her.
Miaka continues begging for help, then breaks down into tears.
The Emperor's procession passes, the boy, and Miaka
watch with interest. Miaka runs over to the procession, and asks the Emperor for an ornament off his crown so, she can pay
the boy to help her look for Yui. While running along side the procession she trips, and tears a cloth decoration. The guards
turn on her claiming she has disrespected the Emperor, and now she must die. The young man once again rescues her. He says
that since she had the guts to do that, he'll help her look for her friend. He also says his name is Kishuku Sou, but everyone
calls him Tamahome. He leans down, and kisses her forehead as payment for helping her search. Just as the guards find them,
Miaka is engulfed by a red light, and disappears.
Miaka sees Yui in the library reading the book. She calls out to
her, but is sucked back into the other world before Yui notices her. Miaka and Tamahome are arrested by the guards, under
the order of the Emperor, and thrown into prison. An upset Miaka tells Tamahome that Yui went home, but she didn't make it,
then begins to cry. Tamahome tells her it will be all right, he'll help her get home somehow.
The Emperor's advisors
say the girl, and the boy must be put to death. Because, the girl gave off a strange light, and disappeared, they might be
demons. The Emperor however, remembers the girl was wearing foreign clothing, and believes she may be the long awaited Priestess
of Suzaku.
Meanwhile, Miaka decides she is hungry, and chews a piece of gum. The guard demands to know what she put
in her mouth, so she blows a bubble. This startles the guard , and he runs away dropping his keys in the process. Tamahome
catches them, and unlocks the cell door.
They begin their escape from the palace, and Miaka gives the rest of her
gum to Tamahome, who is extremely impressed by it. They hear footsteps, and hide in a nearby room. Inside the room, they see
a statue of Suzaku, the guardian of Konan, Tamahome begins explaining Suzaku, and the four Gods to Miaka. She smells food,
and wanders off during Tamahome's explanation. Tamahome turns around, and finds Miaka gone.
Miaka fills up on stolen
food, then notices she lost Tamahome. She begins running around in a panic, but stops when she hears someone chuckle. She
looks up, and sees a beautiful woman pointing to the way out. Miaka begins walking in the direction the woman pointed, but
is stopped by the woman's questions. The women reassures Miaka that she won't call the guards on her. Miaka then tells the
woman that she is looking for her friend, who was thrown into prison on her account. She also says she can't go back to "her
world" until she knows he is out. This seems to peak the woman's interest. Miaka realizes what she just said sounds crazy,
and the woman will never believe her. The woman however, believes her, and is genuinely interested in this "other world".
She tells Miaka her name is Hotohori, but she is usually called by another name. They hear footsteps, and hide.
Tamahome
has been caught by the guards, who are demanding to know where Miaka is. Tamahome says he doesn't know, but they don't believe
him. Miaka steps out of hiding, and tells them not to hurt Tamahome. She is immediately captured by the guards. Tamahome angered
by Miaka's capture, breaks free, and begins fighting the guards. Hotohori comes out of hiding, and calls them all to silence.
The guards, and Tamahome bow before Hotohori? Miaka discovers she had been talking to the Emperor, not a woman.
The
Emperor apologizes for tricking Miaka, and tells her she will not be harmed. He then asks Miaka to save Konan... Hotohori
explains the legend of a girl coming from another world to gain the power of Suzaku, and save Konan to Miaka. She says it
can't be her, because she is nothing special. He then mentions the wishes... Miaka thinks of all the things she could wish
for, then agrees to became the Priestess of Suzaku. The Emperor announces that the Priestess of Suzaku has been found. Miaka
is lead outside, and hundreds of courtiers bow before her.
EPISODE THREE: THE SEVEN STARS OF SUZAKU
- At the library, Yui reads on about Miaka becoming
the priestess.
- Miaka is dreaming that her brother is calling her name. She grabbed his hand and begs him to take
her back to her world, but realizes that it is Tamahome that she is talking to.
- Tamahome says that she seems
depressed and that the Emperor is worried about her.
- Hotohori admires himself in a mirror and says that he is so
beautiful, it's scary. (how modest of him...)
- Tamahome informs Miaka that she is big news all around Konan. He also
says that he can live in the palace now that the priestess has appeared.
- Miaka goes on about how she wants fresh
underwear, and Tamahome embraces her and says it's okay to cry. Miaka is surprised, yet content in the arms of Tamahome. Tama
then says that the power of Suzaku could return Miaka home. Excited about this idea, she runs off to talk to the Emperor.
(falling flat on her face along the way!)
- She asks how to get the power of Suzaku. Hotohori takes out a scroll that
was given to the first emperor, Lord Taiso, called "The Universe Of The Four Gods". He explains that the Four Gods are
28 constellations, which are divided by East, West, South, and North, each having 7 constellations. In the southern sky
is Suzaku, and it's 7 constellations (seishi, guardians, protectors, whatever you wanna call them) are named Chichiri,
Tamahome, Nuriko, Hotohori, Chiriko, Tasuki, and Mitsukake.
- Hotohori reveals a character on his neck and says he
is Hotohori, the water snake. Tamahome is the fire crab, and the protector of the priestess. They realized that they need
to find the other 5 warriors to get the power of Suzaku.
- The best men are assembled to see if any of them are the
celestial warriors. Tamahome decided to test them, but just winds up beating the crap out of them.
- Nearby, 2 women
are watching what is going on. One of the women, Lady Korin, observes that the priestess is close to the Emperor. She also
observes Tamahome.
- Miaka insults the men to get them angry, because she believes that a strong man will never attack
a girl. Unfortunately, after going to far by calling them Wan-Ton guys, all of the men get pissed and ran after her. One
of the men threw a hammer, which hit a structure causing it to collapsed on Miaka. Tamahome ran to save her.
-
As Yui is reading, blood appeared on her leg. She realizes that what the priestess experiences and feels, she experiences
too!
- All of the men are knocked out, so Hotohori attempts to take the debris away to rescue Tamahome and Miaka.
Lady Korin appears and says to let her take care of everything.
- Tamahome struggles to hold up the structure
from crushing Miaka, but is getting weaker. When Tamahome is about it pass out, Lady Korin simply lifts the huge pieces of
debris and throws them behind her and saved Miaka and Tamahome.
- As they get their wounds tended to, Hotohori commends
Tamahome on how he protected her. Miaka doesn't understand why he risked his life for her and scolds him. All he says is "I
do what I want to. Sooner or later, you'll have to reward me, Miaka." Miaka thinks to herself, "Did he do that because
I am the priestess? Or is it because..........."
- Hotohori notices a character on Lady Korin's chest. She reveals
that she is Nuriko. Excited they have found the 3rd one, Miaka greets Nuriko, who snubs her and goes over to Tamahome. She
says that she wanted to help HIM and kisses him!
- In her room, Miaka washes her clothes and wonders why Nuriko kissed
Tamahome. She realizes that she has to get along with Nuriko in order to summon Suzaku.
- Miaka takes off her bra
to wash it, and Tamahome happens to walk in the room at the same time! Turns out that he's running away from Nuriko, who
then comes in and drags Tamahome off with her.
- To get her respect, Miaka decides to become Nuriko's personal maid.
Nuriko, who is a major bitch to Miaka the whole time, orders her to do her hair and clean her floor. To make matters
worse, she is all over Tamahome, which makes Miaka fit to be tied.
- Later, Miaka and Tamahome (who escapes from Nuriko
for the time being) talk outside the palace. She points out that he is loved by a beautiful lady, but he says that he
isn't happy about it. Miaka trips and falls, hurting her leg even more, and Tamahome tends to it.
